Fired from my job, but received a year’s worth of pay and got my Boss fired

I took on a demanding job position as a content developer for a university looking to build a YouTube following at the beginning of the 2010s. I had to produce 85 videos in a year with little money, antiquated technology, and a meager salary—an almost unachievable challenge for a one-man operation. After learning that I was a smoker, my manager’s initial supportiveness quickly turned to hostility. Her constant criticism made me feel more and more pressured to live up to her irrational standards.

When I was eventually summoned to the director’s office and told that I was falling behind on my objectives, I realized my job was on the line. But I came up with a plan that would make things work in my favor rather than give up. By using my industry connections and some clever manoeuvring, I not only got a substantial financial payoff but also indirectly resulted in the dismissal of my unsupportive manager. This tale is proof of ingenuity, tenacity, and the surprising ways in which obstacles can present possibilities.

People were appalled by the unfair dismissal, but the calculated plan to exploit the university’s lack of industry knowledge not only secured a year’s worth of pay but also led to the manager’s eventual firing, bringing a sense of well-deserved satisfaction.
